The new qualification (commenced in 2015) known as the Security and Defence Studies Programme (SDSP) consists of :
SECURITY AND DEFENCE STUDIES PROGRAMME
The Security and Defence Studies Programme (SDSP) deals with national security in its widest context and concentrates on strategic issues affecting South Africa from a regional, continental and global perspective to establish the implications for South Africa’s national security.
The SDSP is presented at the South African National Defence College (SANDC) to selected officers, Public Service Act Personnel, members from parastatals and other government departments, as well as International Fellows from invited countries. Members are in the rank groups Colonel/Captain (SA Navy) and Director/Brigadier General/Rear Admiral (Junior Grade).
The Programme consists of academic and experiential learning which takes place over 47 weeks.
POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT IN THE FIELD OF SECURITY
Contained within the 47 weeks is the outsourced Post Graduate Diploma in Management in the field of Security from the Witwatersrand University’s School of Governance, which consists of 8 Modules autonomously, presented by the School.
